Two men find themselves to be unlikely roommates in a psychiatric ward for a period of time; William, a depressed but social college professor believes that acclaimed authors of the past communicate with him and Travis, a quiet man who believes he is an android due to one hand being prosthetic. During their stay, the story explores their experiences and traumas that have led them to this place and for the wards' doctor to assist in their recovery.
